On average 82% of all HMSL med/surg (excluding IMU) patients are on telemetry, and 42.5% of telemetry patients have been on telemetry >72 hours.
As a result, HMSL is implementing specific criteria for telemetry monitoring to decrease alarm fatigue, improve efficiency, and ensure telemetry monitoring is available when needed. View the approved HMSL Criteria for Telemetry Monitoring.
These criteria were developed based on an Update to Practice Standards for Electrocardiographic Monitoring in Hospital Settings: A Scientific Statement From the American Heart Association and approved by the HMSL Cardiology, Surgery, and Medicine committees.
